Weight Loss
Can you identify with any of these scenarios below?
|
Have you struggled for years with trying to lose weight? |
 |
Have you committed yourself to weight loss programs but found yourself "de-committing" after a few months, weeks, or days? |
 |
Do you then go back to your habitual life partly relieved that you can now eat what you want, but also ashamed, feeling like a failure? |
 |
Have you watched others succeed in weight loss programs and wondered why they have never worked for you? |
 |
Are you beginning to think that you are missing a piece of the weight loss puzzle? |
If so, please feel reassured that you are not alone!
The mistake you and others may be making is that you have been led to believe that successful weight management is dependant upon WILL POWER.
As a friend of mine pointed out the other day using will power to manage your weight is like holding a beach ball under water. You can only hold it down for as long as you are willing to expend the necessary energy. When you tire of expending the energy needed or get distracted by something else that needs your energy the ball comes up, due to the laws of nature it must come up.
A similar push and pull can happen in our minds and bodies. When we consciously decide to change our behaviour but subconsciously work to continue the behaviour we engage in an internal tug of war. A tug of war that is very difficult for the conscious side to win. The only way to truly maintain the new healthy behaviour is to discover the root causes that are driving the subconscious to maintain the behaviour and address them. Once you address the causes and create a healthy way for your subconscious to meet its need you will then have your subconscious working for you and not against you.
So, how do we discover and address the subconscious
causes of the unhealthy behaviour?
There are a number of methods that I use to address the subconscious causes of weight gain. One method is hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy allows a person to uncover the subconscious and actually have a discussion with the different aspects of the self to be found there. Another method used is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). EFT works with the energy circuits of the body and allows us to access energy patterns in the body. These energy patterns are usually imprinted from earlier in a person's life and continue to affect our current life. Once the subconscious causes are made conscious, cognitive behavioral therapy is often used to assimilate the new learning or understanding into the individual's life.
Through the process mentioned above the wishes and desires of the individual's conscious and subconscious mind become congruent. At that point WILL POWER becomes easy.
If this rings true with you then I invite you to contact me and we can explore the possibilities together.
